Autorenporträt
Marcela Castro-Benitez was born on 24th, July 1961 in a Colombian family in Bogotá, capital of Colombia, country situated in the northwest of South America. She was the only woman among four children. She completed her school education in 1977 and later finished her studies of Food Engineering in 1984. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the VolcaniCenter (ARO) were her first international Academical institutions where she began her Magister studies as researcher in Postharvest Physiology of fruits between 1992 and 1994. Her son was born in Colombia in 1995 and her Master of Agrarian Science was finished at the National University of Colombia in the Chemistry Department ¿ Faculty of Science ¿ and Faculty of Agronomy, area of special emphasis: Plant Physiology and Biochemistry of tropical fruits. Academical Committee Resolution of Agronomy Faculty awarded meritorious qualification to her Master dissertation. Since 2001, she has worked as assistant professor in the Faculty of Science at Xavierien University, a private Higher Education Institution in Bogotá, Colombia. DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)awarded her for Doctoral studies in Germany and the Institute of Food Chemistry, Technische Universität zu Braunschweig confered her Ph.D title in 2015.
