His credo was that all the arts (including music and literature) are important pillars of our civilisation and should therefore be made accessible to everyone by various means. In addition to his extensive artistic output, Johann Widmer has always written short stories for young and old. But he avoids the term "writer". He sees himself more as an art mediator and is happy when his books are read. Starting in August 2009, he dedicated a picture to each month, which he accompanied with a matching text. This book is therefore a compilation of the artistic work and the short stories and shows the "monthly pictures" as a collected work. The texts are not intended to influence the viewer's own imagination when looking at the pictures, but they may suggest a way of looking at the picture.

Geboren 1938 in Lindau ZH (Schweiz) Aufgewachsen in ärmlichen Verhältnissen. Schulbildung: Volksschule, dann Mittelschule bis zum Verweis von der Schule. Heirat mit Augustine Schneider. In verschiedenen Berufen tätig (Baugewerbe, Malerei, Gartenbau u.a.) Reisen im Nachkriegseuropa (GB, F, D) Reisen im Mittelmeerraum. Ausbildung zum Lehrer. Als Entwicklungshelfer (mit Familie) in Tunesien und Kongo. Lehrer und Familienvater in der Schweiz in Wald ZH. Ausgedehnte Reisen in Nordafrika. Umzug nach Italien (Toscana) und Aufbau einer kleinen Landwirtschaft. Der Hauptteil des künstlerischen Werkes entsteht (arte powern und informelle Malerei) Ausstellungen in verschiedenen Ländern. Schriftstellerische Tätigkeit. Mit 80 Jahren entstehen die "Lebensgeschichten" (5 Bände).
