Michel Strauss had more than 4 decades' experience advising many great collectors and was responsible for the sale of numerous important paintings and collections. An Art Historian and renowned expert in the field of Impressionism and 20th Century art, his expertise covered the period from 1865 to 1973, from the birth of Impressionism to the death of Picasso. He was Head of Sotheby's Impressionist and Modern Art Department and Board member from 1965 to 2000. From then on, he worked as an independent consultant.
