The flight was long and tiresome, but we kept our spirits high, For we couldn't quell excitement, no matter how we'd try. But we managed to survive it, and we gave a huge hurrah, As quickly we descended into Addis Ababa. Then there was immigration, such a real chaotic scene, It has to be the very worst, of all places I have been. But eventually we got through it, and we met the morning Sun, Now to see the children, now to have some fun. But first there were the cases, fifty odd or so, All to be accounted for, before we got to go. But eventually we made it, and off we set at last, Next stop please Kuriftu, and driver make it fast. We took in all the scenery, every road and field and street, But still we were impatient as the children we could meet. We drove up to the compound and they opened up the gate, Our adventure was about to start, thanks to God who's truly Great. We got to share in worship, met again with many friends, Hoped, and prayed with all our hearts, this journey never ends. But best of all the children, for they made our trip worthwhile, For nothing beats the pleasure, when you see the children smile, The time we had was precious; every minute filled with glee, And I have to thank the Lord above for sharing it with me. The memory is indelible; its sun will never set, Something to be treasured that I never will forget . . . amen. These poems were written with the objective of raising much needed funds for the magnificent work carried out by the Hope for Ethiopia Team at Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle in Belfast. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to brightening up the lives of the children there. God Bless.
