This, his most recent book, "Poetry to Ponder", is a little different from his previous works in that it includes some of his sonnets and some non-rhyming poems and villanelles and hsinkus. Produktbeschreibung
This, his most recent book, "Poetry to Ponder", is a little different from his previous works in that it includes some of his sonnets and some non-rhyming poems and villanelles and hsinkus. The diversity of his subjects and style is truly amazing. It also highlights several exceptional poems that garnered 1st place in international contests and others that were judged from second to sixth places. The beauty of Rex's writing lies partly in the fact that it is easy to understand. Yet the work, while retaining its clarity, is still thought provoking and full of meaning, and in many ways becomes a valiant blueprint for the good life. There are no illustrations in this book, but each selection has an introductory remark from the author telling where, when or how it came to be. It is a timeless and pleasant volume that everyone will enjoy.

Autorenporträt
Throughout Mr. Valentine's numerous professional endeavors, writing has always been in the background as a way to creatively express himself and leave a legacy for his 42 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren (to date). His mother taught him how to read and write at 3 years of age, and he composed his ¿ rst poem at the age of 4, which led to a lifetime of recording true stories, and happenings of his interesting life. He has composed numerous pieces of music, including: Western ballads, Pop, Gospel, and Choral, writing both lyrics and music in nearly all of his original musical compositions. Since his semi-retirement he's been inducted into the "World Congress of Poets" and his work is now internationally recognized. He has six international 1st place poems, plus ¿fteen other poems winning from second to 6th place. Rex has already published two books of poetry. Several of his publications are also available and include a children's story "Tiddlywinks, The Little Horse with Three Ears", and a book detailing his experiences with water dowsing (one of his businesses of 50 years) entitled "Dowsing Discoveries: Finding Water and Other Mysteries". His works "The Rutabaga Patch" and "Spreading Chestnut Wisdom" are delightful volumes containing rhyming narratives of his childhood adventures and a few from his later life. Written in his unique and exceptional style, he adds interest and authenticity to the stories by personally illustrating them or discussing the inspirations leading to their creation, as in this volume.
