Tod Peterson is retired Detective Inspector Bob James's best friend, and also his business partner in JP Associates detective agency based in Leith Edinburgh, so after Tod had been incarcerated in Edinburgh Prison for murder, Bob had taken it very badly, to say the least, and had avoided JP Associates offices at all costs.
