Based on original elite and voter surveys, this book details the changes in the patterns of political representation in Greece and Portugal, two of the bailed-out Eurozone countries. It makes a crucial contribution towards understanding how the crisis has affected the functioning of representative democracies and the link between citizens and the political elite. Chapters cover a broad range of topics that go beyond political representation, such as levels of congruence and responsiveness between voters and political elites, electoral campaign strategies, and changes to party systems and ideological spaces. This book was published as a special issue of South European Society & Politics.
