Autorenporträt
My Peace Corps teaching years in West Africa inform my worldview. However, I have always been interested in public affairs, international relations, humanity, society, and the public good. Writing is my preferred instrument for voicing my concerns; and in recent years, I have become more and more deeply concerned about the corruption, incompetence, human rights abuse and lawlessness evident in the caliber and character of my country's leadership. I am an educator by training and at heart and credentialed in education, print journalism and public affairs (PhD, Michigan State University-East Lansing; MA, the American University-Washington, DC). In my area of interest, I have written a fair number of books: Unconscionable: How the World Sees Us (2014); No Land an Island No People Apart (2012); Same Ole or Something New (2010); Breakdown (2009); Women's Work and Words Altering World Order (2008); Missing News and Views in Paranoid Times (2006); No Room for Despair . . . Mary McLeod Bethune's Cold War, Integration-Era Commentary (2005); Talking Back to Today's News (2003); America's Human Connection (1994); An Annotated Bibliography of Mary McLeod Bethune's Chicago Defender Columns, 1948-1955 (2001); You Can Struggle without Hating, Fight without Violence (cir. 1988). Current news and views, politics and public affairs are found at Bennett's Study / Today's Insight News, http://todaysinsightnews.blogspot.com, with links to my Facebook page.
