In the sea of concepts, invitations and "imperatives" of the current mass media world, I have observed with concern how some doses of truth regarding how our mind works, are presented intertwined with distorted messages that lack valid foundation. My experience in consulting, especially in the last 10 years, alerts me with concern regarding the impact that these trends have on the experience and behavior of a large numbers of people consuming such messages.
On this particular point, I have no doubt that miracles eventually do occur from the use of positive affirmation techniques, probably due to favorable circumstances that transcend luck... I have seen it... I have also observed that, on a smaller scale, in a mental-emotional field that tends to balance, certain types of affirmations work effectively, built according to the keys that I describe in chapter 4 of this book, achieving favorable changes in attitude, behavior, decisions and / or relationships. However, these techniques are not as effective in life scenarios that are simply not conducive, making it difficult to achieve what the person wants, and / or for people who are prone to anxiety and/or whose life histories contain affliction-laden chapters, conditions that require to be addressed and managed in a totally different way, preferably following guided psychotherapy programs by the health professional accredited for it.
What I emphasize here, I reiterate, is that NOT IN ALL CASES THE MAGIC OF POSITIVE THINKING HAPPENS. Rather, what I have validated through my years of experience and professional practice is that, based on our personal (internal) configuration: capabilities, conditioning, affinities, propensities and decision-making style, we generate certain situations in our lives (consciously or not), of which we can change the course (or, at least, improve it a little) if we actively and adequately intervene in this internal configuration that defines us. Therefore, I insist, I find counterproductive those tendencies that trivialize the complexity of what all this is about.
I have no doubt about the favorable intention of many of the initiatives that spread overwhelmingly across the planet; my contribution is only intended to offer a slightly deeper understanding of some of the distortions that do not fit well with our psyche health and life processes.
It is for these and other reasons that, for a long time, I have decided to use the concept of "COHERENT THOUGHT", instead of "POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS", to work on the reconduction of some of the processes of our rational-reflective mind, in a more consonant way with our internal realities and different life scenarios.
Soon you will have the "ADDENDUM" of this book, to delve into the reflections and therapeutic practices derived from this approach.
I hope this reading can represent a significant contribution to invite my readers to undertake the profoundly healing task of recognizing important aspects of our elemental nature, embracing our basic tendencies, respecting our times and processes of internal change, and from there choosing walk our path of life, in an increasingly sentient, conscious, genuine and fullfilling way.
