Autorenporträt
Mr Alamu Muda-Ayeni was born at Oke-Oluokun, Ibadan, Nigeria, on February 12 1945. His father, Agboola Adisa, was a goldsmith while his mother, Olatundun Atole, was a trader. He had his elementary education at the Native Authority (NA) School, Eleta 1, Eleta, Ibadan, between 1953 and 1959. For his secondary education, he attended King's College, Lagos, between 1960 and 1964 (for the West African School Certificate, WASC), and King's College, Lagos, between 1965 and 1966 (for the Higher School Certificate, HSC). After King's College education and training, he took a brief teaching appointment as Mathematics and Science teacher at Akinorun Grammar School, Ikirun, Osun State (January-June 1967) before venturing into private entrepreneurship in invention development and writing - two particular areas of his calling for which he is richly endowed. He later established the Newton House Publications, a publishing outfit specifically founded as a pilot project to promote human resource development as a vital ingredient of nation-building. Following the transition from military to civil rule in 1979, he released his first commentary on the state of the nation in the book titled Ah! He Murdered Sleep! (a chapter of which is recalled in this book). Other state-related titles by him in the Newton House series include Armour of Light and Towards a Stable Social Order: Adelabu Speaks from the Grave! In recognition of politics as the main platform for the promotion of sound public welfare policies in governance, he partook in political activism of the new democratic dispensation and became the Special Assistant to the Governor in the short-lived administration of the then Governor of Old Oyo State, Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo (October 1 - December 31 1983), which was abruptly terminated by yet another military coup d'etat! Amidst the wide-ranging demands of daily business and creative research, Mr Muda-Ayeni also finds time for socio-cultural engagements and holds membership of such organisations as the Ibadan United Front and the Ibadan Foundation, the latter of which he currently serves as Executive Secretary. He is married and blessed with children.
