Operative techniques for endoscopic sinonasal procedures for CRS are also outlined. Pete S. Batra, MD, FACS is currently the Stanton A. Friedberg, MD Professor and Chairman in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He also serves as the Head of Section of Rhinology, Sinus Surgery and Skull Base Surgery and Co-Director of Rush Center for Skull Base and Pituitary Surgery at the institution. He was previously an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Co-Director of the Comprehensive Skull Base Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Batra completed his internship and residency training at Northwestern University and then pursued fellowship training in rhinology at the Cleveland Clinic. He has co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and lectured extensively nationally and internationally on sinus disease and minimally invasive skull base surgery. His academic distinctions include American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Distinguished Service Award, Best Doctors of America, the Cleveland Clinic Innovator Award, and Cleveland Clinic Head and Neck Institute Teacher of the Year Award. Dr. Batra is active in the American Rhinologic Society, currently serving as Secretary of the organization. He previously served on the ARS Board of Directors and is the Past Chair of the Patient Advocacy Committee. He is also active in the American Academy of Otolaryngology, serving on multiple committees. He is a peer-reviewer of multiple scientific journals including the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology, Laryngoscope and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Batra is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the Triologic Society, American College of Surgeons and American Rhinologic Society.
Joseph K Han, MD is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is the Divisional Chief for Rhinology & Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery. He is also the Medical Director for the Division of Allergy. Before coming to Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Han was the Director of Rhinology at University of Virginia. Dr. Han is currently the President of the Tidewater Otolaryngology & Ophthalmology Society, President of the Korean American Otolaryngology Society, Chair of the Rhinology and Paranasal Sinus Committee within the American Academy of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery, Board Member of the American Rhinologic Society, and Vice President of the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology. Dr. Han is an Associate Editor and on the Editorial Board for the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology. He used to be the Associate Editor and was on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Rhinology and Allergy. Dr. Han is currentlya guest examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Han is the Rhinology Section Editor for Ballenger’s Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He has seventy-nine scientific publications, one hundred thirty one national and international scientific presentations, and one hundred twenty two guest lectureships. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery, American Rhinologic Society, Triological Society, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, American College of Surgeons, and American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Han has received many awards such as Best Doctors of America and Top Doctors by US News & Report. He is very active in both basic science research as well as clinical research studies.
