Four women (who are past even the cougar stage) enjoy a close friendship until one of them dies unexpectedly. Belle, the main character, must now honour a promise she never expected to keep. She must take her friend's ashes back to Prairie Bend for burial. The four friends had long talked about a road trip together that didn't happen. Now the remaining three agree to "take Diane home." They rent a motorhome and head out. Belle is disturbed by nightmares where her deceased friend, Diane, tries to give her a message and reveal dark secrets. Belle saves her friend's dachshund and he acompanies on them on the trip where they face and overcome dangerous situations.
