Jesus is returning to Jerusalem to take up His reign on the earth (Zech 14; Is 2:1-4). For this reason, as we pray for His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven (Matt 6:10), we are praying for His return to take up His throne in Jerusalem (Jer 3:17; Acts 1:11). His Kingdom cannot come on earth until His City is ready to receive Him (Matt 23:39) and therefore every believer is commanded to become part of this process and pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Ps 122:6). Prayer and worship from the twelve Gateways from the ends of the earth to Jerusalem and the pathway for His coming. Praise and worship allow Him to be Lord and open our ears to hear His voice so that we can pray and act according to His revealed purposes and ways. This also prepares our hearts for us to be used to bring these about.

This book is designed to introduce the Body of Messiah to some of the major issues involved in praying for the peace of Jerusalem and equip intercessors to be able to pray more strategically for the City of God and her people. The methodology used is the historical-geographical aspect of spiritual mapping, which attempts to identify, together with spiritual discernment, the spiritual strongholds and God's redemptive purposes for Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. The eighteen months of research involved is really only a beginning. Many points have been identified but not elaborated in depth. It is hoped that intercessors will take these suggestions to the Lord and allow Him to direct the path ahead. Use what is helpful, disregard the rest, and pray through what the Lord quickens to your heart.
