This is a short story about people who have a lot of things going on in their loves but are kept sane by love. Riley O'Brien lost her mother to an accident and only has her dad. She gets attracted to her father's friend and co-worker Brad Taylor.

Brad and Riley's father, Paul O'Brien are good friends both in and out of the office. Paul suffers emotionally and physically from the death of his wife. He is overwhelmed by not having her around and having to raise Riley by himself.

Brad's life turns upside down when he ends up in jail after trying to help his mother. His life behind bars halts a lot of things in his life. While behind bars, Riley takes it upon herself to care for him and be there for him as much as she can.

She goes from visiting him secretly when she was a minor to visiting him legally when she attains the legally allowed age set for such visits. Riley feels that she needs to be there for Brad because of a lot of the sudden changes that have engulfed his life during his prison stint,

All three of them are faced with difficult challenges. But the love they have for each other gives them hope and the motivation to keep going.
