Xiang-Lin Gu, professor of Tongji University, Leading talent in Shanghai, chief scientist of the national key research and development program. Currently, he is the Vice President of Tongji University, Director of International Joint Laboratory of Earthquake Engineering, Director of International Joint Research Center for Earthquake Engineering, Director of Key Laboratory of Performance Evolution and Control for Engineering Structures of Ministry of Education. He is also the council member of the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage, President of ACI China Chapter, Vice President of RILEM China Chapter, Vice President of the China Civil Engineering Society, Vice President of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, and Vice President of Shanghai Civil Engineering Society. His main research interests include life-cycle design and maintenance of engineering structures, damage process analysis of materials and structures, structural performance enhancement, and innovative structural materials and systems. In the past five years, he has hosted the national key research and development project, major international cooperation project of the National Natural Science Foundation, China, as well as 863 and 973 projects. He has published more than 130 SCI indexed journal papers, 4 books, and 1 English textbook. He has been awarded Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (1st Prize).
Professor Masoud Motavalli is the Head of the Structural Engineering Research Laboratory at Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Empa and lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich, as well as University of Tehran. Professor Motavalli obtained his Doctor of Engineering at ETH-Zurich in 1992. His laboratory at Empa is one of the largest structural engineering laboratories for carrying out full-scale structural tests in Europe. His research interests are the application of advanced materials such as multi layered fibre reinforced polymers and shape memory alloys in civil engineering structures, mechanical behaviour of these materials, rehabilitation and repair of existing structures with post-tensioned advanced materials. Professor Motavalli is a pioneer in developing and applying of iron based shape memory alloys, which lead to establishing the Swiss company refer AG to introduce this novel material to the market worldwide.
Professor Motavalli has published hundreds of peer reviewed journal and conference papers with a high number of citations. He organized or co-organized several successful international conferences, such as CICE2008 in Zurich, SHMII2009 in Zurich, SMAR2011 in Dubai, SMAR2013 in Istanbul, SMAR2015 in Antalya, SMAR2017 in Zurich, SMAR2019 in Pots-dam and SMAR2022 in Shanghai.
Dr. Alper İlki is a professor of structural engineering at Istanbul Technical University. His research interests include the structural behavior of reinforced concrete and masonry structures. Other main fields of his research interests are large scale structural testing and structural/seismic retrofitting, particularly through innovative techniques and materials. He is the editor of Turkish Journal of Civil Engineering, associate editor or editorial board member of ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, ASCE Journal of Composites for Construction, Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering and Bulletin of New Zealand Society of
Earthquake Engineering. Other than 80+ journal, 200+ conference papers, he co-edited three international books published by Springer titled Seismic Risk Assessment and Retrofitting, Seismic Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Structures, and Advances in Assessment and Modeling of Earthquake Loss. Dr. Ilki is an elected member of the IIFC Council, head of Turkish Delegation to fib, chairman of the executive committee of Turkish Earthquake Foundation and a member of the board of Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool. He chaired/co-chaired the organization committees of Smart Monitoring, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Civil Structures International Conference Series and the 10th International Conference on FRP Composites in Civil Engineering, CICE 2020/2021, the official conference of IIFC, among others.
Dr. Qian-Qian Yu is an associate professor in Department of Structural Engineering, Tongji University. Her research interests focus on performance evolution and control of steel structures, including detection of crack and corrosion damage of steel structures based on machine learning, and fatigue performance improvement of steel structures by using innovative materials, such as carbon fiber-reinforced materials and shape memory alloy. She has published more than 40 SCI indexed journal papers and one book. She is an elected member of the IIFC Council. Dr. Yu chaired the organization committee of 9th Asia-Pacific Young Researchers and Graduates Symposium (YRGS 2019).
