There are a number of procedures which are common to all urologists with a general urology practice eg ureteric stents and testicular implants. Urologists interested in prosthesis surgery currently offer a range of procedures eg slings for incontinence in both men and women, and is also within the remit of those undertaking AUS (artificial urinary sphincter) implantation, and likewise andrological surgeons undertaking penile prosthesis also offer AUS. Asif Muneer BSc(Hons), MB, ChB, FRCS(Ed), FRCS(Eng), MD, FRCS(Urol)
Asif Muneer is a consultant urological surgeon with a specialist interest in andrology and men’s Health. After completing a research degree at the Wolfson Institute, University College London, he went on to complete his higher surgical training in Oxford and was awarded the Intercollegiate Gold Medal. After completing a further fellowship he was appointed as a consultant based at University College Hospital as well as Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London. He is now part of one of the largest penile cancer teams in the UK. Asif has been actively involved in the diagnosis and management of penile cancer for a number of years. His other areas of interest are priapism, erectile dysfunction, penile reconstructive surgery, and male infertility.
David Ralph, BSc, MS, FRCS ; font-size: 14px;">David Ralph is a Consultant Urologist at St Peter’s Hospitals within UCLH since 1996. He is past President of both the British Society for Sexual Medicine and the Andrology Section of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and is now vice president of the Sexual Dysfunction Association and Treasurer of the European Society for Sexual Medicine. He runs a large multidisciplinary erectile dysfunction service and is Director of the Erectile Dysfunction Clinical Trials Unit. He runs a European training fellowship for penile prosthesis implantation as well as research fellowships studying the molecular biology of erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease and priapism. He is heavily involved in postgraduade training, running live surgery courses and lecturing both at the European School Of Urology and the American Association of Urology. Having built up the Andrology sub-specialty into a four-man team, the St Peter's Andrology Unit is now the biggest tertiary referral team within UCLH and has both a national and international reputation.
