In this collection of papers spanning 65 years as a clinical psychologist, Nick Cummings chronicles the evolution of US psychology from 5000 mostly academicians in 1940 to over 150,000 mostly practitioners through a series of changes to meet societal demands for mental health services. At each juncture of this developing field Cummings foresaw what lay ahead for the field. In this assemblage Cummings selected one article from among many that heralded often far in advance each phase of clinical psychology's evolution to the present including its demise.
