German writer Roland Schimmelpfennig has worked as a journalist, translator and dramaturg. Push Up (translated by Maya Zade) was first produced at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in February 2002. Other work for the theatre in English includes Arabian Nights (translated by David Tushingham) which performed at Soho Theatre, London in 2002, and The Woman Before (translated by David Tushingham), commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre in 2005 for a main-house production. German plays include Vorher/Nacher, Die Arabische Nacht, Vor langer Zeit im Mai, MEZ, Keine Arbeit für die junge Frau im Frühlingskleid, Die Zwiefachen, Die ewige Maria, Fisch um Fisch, and Aus den Städten in die Wälder, Aus den Wäldren in die Städte. Radio includes: Krieg der Wellen, (Hessischer Run dfunk, nominee for Radio play of the year), Die Taxiterooristin (Südwestfunk), Vorher/Nachher (Hessischer Rundfunk), Die Aufzeichnung (Südwestfunk).Translation includes: The Glory of Living, Sling Blade, Penetrato.
