The Qur'an and Liberalism: Convergent Moral Values and Philosophies is an exploration of themes/concepts which are generally associated with the liberal framework of thought and the association of which with the Qur'an is regarded as heresy. They include property and wealth accumulation, justice, freedom and rights, the sanctity of contracts, international cooperation, consultation and participatory governance, gender balance, the notion of 'just war' and environmental sustainability, to name just a few. In casting into relief thus far unimaginable synergies in moral value and philosophy between the Qur'an and liberalism, this book brings together two apparently irreconcilable moral systems and orders in a manner which puts to rest much of contemporary sources of social discord, global insecurity and wider intergroup hatred.
