The current worldwide trend towards the utilization of natural plant-remedies has created an enormous need for information about the properties and uses of medicinal plants. This revival of interest in plant-derived drugs is mainly due to the current wide-spread belief that natural medicine is safe and more dependable than the costly synthetic drug, many of which have adverse side-effects. Based on this rationale, the present volume of the series Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants: Search for Natural Drugs has been conceived and provides recent research data on 30 research and review articles: received from eminent scientists in India and abroad. The volume has been designed for a wide range of audience in the field of photochemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, toxicology, ethno medicine, drug standardization, microbiology, medical sciences and other researchers interested in the discovery of new natural drugs. The contributors are from far and wide including USA, China, U.K., Spain, Mexico, Belgium, Brazil, Peru, Romania, Italy, Australia, Austria, Nigeria, Iran and India.
