Wholeheartedness
Open-mindedness
Curiosity
Responsibility
Developing reflective attitudes like these and others are key to recharging your teaching. Lasting change starts small. A slight shift can clarify your perspective. A small action done consistently can recharge your teaching. This book includes simple actions you can take to develop your reflective attitudes.
All good teaching is rooted in reflective attitudes like wholeheartedness, open-mindedness and curiosity. When we are experiencing discouragement and burnout, we lose our connection to those attitudes. Our curiosity about our students and their learning, and the wholeheartedness and open-mindedness that came so naturally to us before, disappears.
Recharge Your Teaching is for the teacher who is losing touch with the reflective attitudes that used to sustain their teaching practice. It explores six reflective attitudes (wholeheartedness, directness, open-mindedness, responsibility, curiosity, and desire for growth) and provides exercises to help you reconnect with and strengthen those attitudes. The exercises included have been developed for use in the author's reflective practice as well as her work with teachers in professional development workshops and courses around the world.
