Dr. Salah Rubayi, MD, FICS, FACS, is Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Southern California. As a world-renowned physician and surgeon, he has had a positive impact on the lives of many patients treated at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. He is Chair of Rancho's Department of Surgery and Chief of the Pressure Ulcer Management and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Programs. Originally trained at University of Baghdad Medical College and the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Dr. Rubayi joined the medical staff at Rancho in 1982. In 2006 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is the highest award conferred by the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation. Dr. Rubayi has published a number of scientific articles and made numerous scientific presentations nationally and internationally. He has served as a co-investigator on several clinical trials related to pressure ulcer management in patients with spinal cord injury. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the International Medical Society of Paraplegia.
