Graeme Ratten was born in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1939.
He received his primary education at a State school and his secondary education at Carey Baptist Grammar School, then studied Medicine at Melbourne University graduating in 1963.
He commenced post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne in 1966 and also gained experience in Port Moresby, Territory of Papua and New Guinea, and at West Middlesex Hospital, England.

Graeme has been married to Beverley for 58 years and has four children and ten grand-children.

He received his primary, secondary and tertiary education in Melbourne, graduating in Medicine from Melbourne University in 1963.Deciding that his career lay in Women's Health he commenced post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne in 1966 and also gained experience in Port Moresby, Territory of Papua and New Guinea and the West Middlesex Hospital, England.Returning to Melbourne in 1970 Graeme spent his professional life caring for patients at the Royal Women's Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women and was also very involved in teaching midwives and under-graduate and post-graduate medical students.Interests in retirement include travel, continued involvement in medical education in Melbourne and Independent Samoa and contributing to regional health care at Nagambie Hospital. He enjoys fellowship with members of the Probus Club of Heidelberg.Graeme has been married to Beverley for 58 years and has four children, ten grandchildren and one great- grandchild.Dr. Graeme RattenMB,BS,FRCOG,FRANZCOG.
