Stine Eckert is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. Her research focuses on the intersection of media, gender, and minorities as well as the democratic potential of new media for publics. Ingrid Bachmann is Associate Professor in the School of Communications at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. A former reporter, her research explores the role of the news media in the definition of meanings within the public sphere.
