His parents were devout Mormons so they came unglued when he said he didn't want to go on a mission. Although it wasn't compulsorily, it was expected from young Mormon men getting out of high school.

His father threatened him with not paying for his college education and not letting him live with them after he graduated from high school.

This short story is about what happens when a young man is faced with not pleasing his parents and following his own wishes.
