This book is divided into five parts. Part I includes three previously published articles and one specifically written for this book. Two of the three previously published articles are reviews of the literature from different perspectives and employ different review methodology. And the other one is a theoretical article discussing research paradigms and methods for CALL. The one written for this book discusses scientific research in general. The goal of Part I is to give an overview of research and development issues in the field of using technology to improve language education. Part II through Part V are organized according to the ways technology can be used to enhance language learning, each with an introductory chapter that elaborates the theoretical foundations and relevant second language acquisition (SLA) literature that support the technology uses included in the respective part.
