Rezensionen
"Mattei presents an engaging and wide-ranging book...the book's 'message' is and will be highly salient to European welfare systems.' - Journal of Social Policy

"This book adds a new dimension to the study of the welfare state by examining, cross-nationally, the impact of change on the governance of hospitals and schools. Paola Mattei's challenging and provocative exploration of the clash between the new managerialism and democratic accountability is argued with sophistication and solid scholarship."

- Rudolf Klein, Emeritus Professor of Social Policy, Bath University, and Visiting Professor London School of Economics, UK
