In the year 2449 Dr. Aurenne Bahn is about to become an historic superstar when her research culminates in reviving a person dead for 300 years. But in her day every experiment must be approved by some committee, in her case that of Cultural Antiquities. Agent Anton Epps is the key reviewer and, because he has his own plans for world power, he confiscates Aurenne's project for his own uses. There is no way to avoid this disaster until James, an odd old man, finds his way into her lab and offers his place in which to set up. With the help of her assistants she disappears with the lab and goes underground in James' secret hideout. There he reveals his identity as the last surviving descendant of Hedge Daunican, a poet and leader of a revolution cut short by his assassination in 2050. Aurenne is stunned by the revelation as Daunican was her favorite poet in younger years, and further that James keeps his mummified corpse hidden there. James has lured her into his hideout in hopes she will continue his work as caretaker of Daunican's original manuscripts and his corpse. Aurenne's first experiment is the successful retrieval from the corpse of the kinetic energy to reconstruct actual words spoken by Daunican. But the words are in a language he invented. James is startled by Daunican's words and translates them as the sign the poet left to resurrect him from the dead. Aurenne approaches the greatest challenge of her life to be the recipient of Daunican's recomposed energy. But before she commences the experiment Epps and his assistant discover and take over the hideout as the new base for his own revolution. He insists that he receive the energy of the historic figure which he presumes will make him unstoppable in his campaign. Will Aurenne succeed in resurrecting the ancient poet? What will Epps do as the reincarnated Daunican? Adapted from Mark Turner's stage play, this reads as if it is happening right in your presence. A guide is provided for group discussion.
