One ordinary mother of two reads Robyn Davidson's 'Tracks'; then emboldened, embarks on a solo bike ride across the Nullarbor. An unlikely stroke of fate leads her to a crazy Frenchman. A love story begins between two headstrong people who rarely spend much time together. And then years later marry. It is also a love story of two distant lands: France and Australia. A contemplation of loss. A thank you letter to two families. And it is for Loup, who first believed, and never let go of 'No Ordinary Love.'

Autorenporträt
I am an ordinary woman with a healthy lack of common sense. And a preference for lonely dirt roads. That, combined with the good fortune of meeting extraordinary characters in my life, has led me down unmarked paths. Paths that lose me. So that writing becomes the way back. Becomes the re-making. Words and stories are for me like maps. They reassure with known landmarks, but then they tempt me far away to unknown places. I read to get lost in someone else's imagination. And then to be brought home again by that same force. Hence I write to appease my own imagination and my need to trespass.
