She later reconnects with a doctor by the name of Doctor Bren that lives in the same city that she originally became a doctor of. They go through a quiet life avoiding their colleagues as to not have to answer any questions about their relationship.He had been older than she. He dies from older age. After his death Layne begins feeling as if she can heal from the sadness of his death by riding horses. She begins to learn a lot about the gracefulness and strength of riding horses. She learns some new things about horses along the way.
