Tensions arise among the companions and they are sundered. Two struggle on. The godlike whom they meet are not as they thought, caught up in their own conflicts, and yet--godlike. The pair are enmeshed in the nets of the Other Place, and drawn in. In noise to deafen ears accustomed to the quiet of the forest, amid blinding lights, darkness impenetrable, jostling myrmidon hordes such as they had never imagined, in swirling bewilderment the pair keep their own integrity only through a conjunction of naivety and indomitable spirit. What their journey brings them to, what they find, is not what they expected.

This fellow lives in the forest with his wife, whom he met in their teens. At her first square dance she caught him in her butterfly net. She threw away the net and they've been fluttering around together ever since. To help pay for the necessary nectar and a leaf over their heads (there started to be caterpillars, long since butterflies themselves) he has bent umbrella handles (truly), delivered bread, milk, mail, worked as a shop assistant, in forestry, wild life research (ornithologist), taught English as a second language, driven interstate trucks, lectured in computer scienceamong other things. He first saw the light of day in Gloucestershire, England; migrated to Australia aged 30; and lived near Perth for a long time. Recently they moved to Far North Queensland.
