After millions of migrants moved from the countryside into the cities in China, there was huge pressure to redevelop their enclaves. This emerging urbanism gave way to a new built environment through demolition and the development of new towns, the migrants lives entered a transient phase from an informal to a formal urbanity. This book looks at the migrants and their enclaves, known as the 'villages in the city'.
