The Scapegoat -AKA Circus-
Aulis, Then
The Trojan war is raging but the Greek fleet is unable to sail. It is not a mystery, their king has commited hubris, he has fouled the goddess and she will not allow him to sail, holding the wings dead by her side until she is satisfied. The Argive seer reveals her will to the king -In order for his sins to be cleansed he must sacrifice what is most precious to him, his eldest daughter, Iphigenia. Iphigenia understands that her land is in need of a scapegoat and she offers herself, but she could not be more surprised that in the face of her executioner she sees... her own father.
Thebes, Then
Both of her brothers have been slain but the law forbids the burial of traitors. Antigone, the daughter of the king who reigned this city before the current tyrant is fully aware of what the law says but the neglect of a dead body is one of the greatest sins before every God, especially her own flesh and blood. When she is caught by the Guards, burying the bodies she is arrested and taken before the Tyrant, who is in need of a scapegoat to express the extent of his power to his people. He sentences her to death, by being buried alive, but Aemon, his own son, madly in love with Antigone joins her in death. The great Tyrant Creon is left alone in this world to rule over the city.
New York, Now
An unstable patient escapes a tight security private mental facility, just before a serial killer begins roaming the dark corners of New York. Some people are just born that way, some of them victims and other hunters. In a world full of hazy gray areas, the quiet mystery-woman Iphigenia -Fay- Milton met late last night might hold the key to making out the hunter from the hunted. Everybody's idea and path to finding justice differs significantly and the lines get blurry. One thing is sure though, the city is in turmoil and in need of putting a face to the shadow that claims lives daily, as if putting a face would make it less dangerous. And this is when the city is in its greatest need for its Scapegoat.
