Durwen is a specialist in neurology with additional qualifications in clinical geriatrics and psychotherapy, former head physician in the Department of Acute Geriatrics and Neurogeriatrics at St. Martinus Hospital in Düsseldorf and head of the Institute for Medical Assessment and Consultation in Cologne.
