In addition, he writes, lectures, and provides training internationally on the topic of social skills training and managing challenging behaviors. He is an award winning author of seven books, including Social Skills Training for Children and Adolescents with Asperger's Syndrome and Social Communication Problems; Preparing for Life: The Complete Handbook for the Transition to Adulthood for Those with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome; The Social Skills Picture Book; The Social Skills Picture Book for High School and Beyond; No More Meltdowns: Positive Strategies for Managing and Preventing Out-of-Control Behavior, and No More Victims: Protecting those with Autism from Cyber Bullying, Internet Predators & Scams. His work has also been featured on ABC World News, Nightline, Fox News, the CBS Early Show, and the Discovery Health Channel. Alex Liau W. M. (Whatt Meng) obtained his degree in Psychology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He has many years of experience working with children exhibiting a wide array of learning and behavior difficulties, with many diagnosed as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD). He received Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) training in Australia and subsequently went to Houston, Texas, for Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) training under Dr. Steven Gutstein and Dr. Rachel Sheely. He has presented in Australia, Houston, and Singapore. Additionally, he has worked with clients from various countries like China, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States, and Australia. He has also mentored and trained many therapists throughout his career. His interest in children with special needs started while he was concentrating on Childhood Psychology and pursued a research project on autism and related disorders. The many successful cases he achieved while working intensively with children with ASD made him a firm believer of early intervention and other comprehensive, experimentally proven therapies. Alex has the ability to harness the confidence and self esteem of these children, which in turn enable them to be more receptive to compliance training and regain the ability to learn and progress.
