Riley opened his eyes and blinked, wincing at the pain shooting through his head. He felt blinded for seconds glancing at the overhead florescent light above his bed. As he looked around, he noticed a number of cots in a row along the wall. Where in the hell am I? Nothing looked familiar to him.
Panic started to set in, but he swallowed down the sensation and told himself to calm down until he could find out how he'd gotten here and his name. Although he tried searching his brain again nothing came to mind.
When he lifted the light cover off him, he glanced down and saw he was still dressed. His hand came in contact with something in the back pocket of his jeans. After removing it, he turned on his side and opened a brown leather wallet.
It didn't take him long to look inside and discover an identification card with the name Riley Carson on it. So, I must be Riley Carson. Thinking the name still didn't jog his memory. He slipped the wallet back into his jeans before lying back tiredly. Maybe if he got a little sleep, he'd wake up and find out this was all a bad dream. He closed his eyes and fell into a light sleep.
Riley drifted in and out of sleep for the next few hours, but his final awakening came when a waft of perfume floated down and entered his nostrils. He sniffed the air appreciatively wondering at the source.
There was something oddly familiar about the scent, but he couldn't place who, or where he'd smelled it before.
