In 2034 the Church of England will be 500 years old. In England less than a million Anglicans attend church each week. But things weren't always like that. Not so long ago there still seemed to be a future. This little story looks at a church located in a gritty, northern steel town and shares the hopes and fears of some of the parishioners. The main concern is the vicar, Harry Snaith. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's not bothered, because he and his wife have just landed a once in a lifetime chance to act as chaplains on a cruise ship. What about the folk they'll leave behind? Their lives go on in much the same way. Or maybe not? And Harry can't just assume that when he gets back things will be the same.
