They're told it's a relic capable of stopping events with its mere presence, one that was altered by Palmer. The Umbra blame it for the increasing number of events and vanishing shadows, but Ava has her doubts.

A grieving woman returns to the office. She demands to know why Gerald claimed her sister died years before when there is undeniable proof that she is still alive and in the city.

Ava and Gerald set out to find answers, but she can't ignore Neith nipping at her heels, the whispers in the dark, or the flickering of the gods Gerald carries, whose sharp focus and keen eyes are suddenly on the present.
