His work is widely cited and recognized for its significant impact on education policy and practice, making him a leading voice in student retention and equity.

Dr. Essah-Hienwo is married to Wendy Essah-Hienwo, a Health Informatics Analyst, and together they have four children: Shantel, Michael Sam, Jesse-Jared, and Jazmine. Committed to promoting educational equity and social change, he continues to be an enthusiastic scholar and advocate in Ghana and beyond.
