The story "Woe to the Victors" tells of the period of the establishment of Christianity under Emperor Justinian I and the annexation of Southern Crimea to the Byzantine Empire. The Chersonesites resisted this for a very long time, venerating the goddess Virgo, and not Jesus Christ. They believed that the spirit of the goddess lives in a certain shrine called Palladium. Where the relic disappeared after the events of the VI century is unknown, most likely destroyed. When creating the work, historical documents are used that describe the events of that time, as well as personal experience of the author in the archaeological expedition of the historical faculty of Kharkov University named after V.N. Karazin. The novel "The Shores of Acheron" is a logical continuation of the story "Woe to the Victors". The action takes place against the background of real events of 1921 in Turkey and the Crimea: the Greek-Turkish war, the Kemal Ataturk revolution, the NKVD Pyatakov-Kun-Zemlyachka commission to expose the White Guard underground. Documents on the history of Turkey, the history of the Civil War, memoirs of the leaders of the "white" movement of Generals Alekseev and Turkul were used in the work on the work. The main characters are trying to revive the mystical power of the ancient city, with the help of a new artifact brought from Eregli on the banks of the Acheron River, according to which, according to legend, Hercules fell into the kingdom of Hades. The war with the Bolsheviks is lost, so all that remains is to hope for the help of mystical forces.
