Dick Carmel was born in Chicago and now lives in a North Shore suburb. He attended Northwestern University and Law School, where he received BA and J.D. degrees. He has practiced law , worked as an officer of a national franchise company, and has been the head of his own real estate brokerage. Now widowed, Carmel is the father of a son and daughter and has two grandchildren.
