DIGGING UP DIRTY DEEDS CAN BE DEADLY...
After her progressive radio station in Los Angeles was sold to a more conservative company, outspoken talk show host Sammy Greene returned to New York City to join the liberal Radio USA network, based in Astoria, Queens. For the past four years, she has shared a life with Alex Matsas, an archaeologist turned executive director of the Vandis Foundation. Alex is also the fundraiser for New York's only Romaniote Jewish Temple, and Sammy feels he's growing increasingly comfortable rubbing elbows with the city's political elite. Meanwhile, she remains deeply committed to her own fight for justice, wherever she finds it.
Sammy's former investigative partner, ex-cop Gus Pappajohn, now works as a cyber-consultant in Greece. His daughter, Ana Pappajohn, has turned her life around and is studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. Ana comes to New York to intern at a public hospital in Jackson Heights, a Queens neighborhood known for its diverse immigrant community.
When a Tibetan infant arrives at the ER with symptoms of arsenic poisoning, Ana suspects foul play, only to have the baby's mother arrested for attempted murder. Convinced of the woman's innocence, Ana embarks on her own investigation. She reaches out to Gus and Sammy for help, and together, the trio uncovers a web of corruption and criminal activity tied to two seemingly unrelated murders. As they dig deeper, they put their lives on the line to protect the vulnerable residents of Jackson Heights.
