Living life for an afterlife? What other purpose can there be? Hedonism? The descendants of Ishmael and Issac struggled to comply with God's Laws. No matter the commitment or effort, after the resurrection, sin can only be overcome and salvation received through Jesus Christ. An afterlife, even by a death bed conversion of a sinful souls, is more possible than one hundred thousand daily prayers, chants, or bows. Why not live a sin filled life of self-satisfaction, and before death confess and convert to Jesus Christ? Your timing better be excellent! However, there is a problem. Even if found worthy of heaven, there are rewards based upon your worldly thoughts, acts, or deeds. You may have made it through the pearly gates, but your narcissistic, self-serving, and wasted life will serve you poorly.
If you are misguided, faithless, or a denier, then sin is irrelevant. You are lost. But, If you ask Jesus for help, help will come. You will always be susceptible to sin and always need Jesus's help. The decisions, choices, and actions you make or take are up to you. Do you choose to live a virtuous life? What is a virtuous life and where do you find answers and solutions? Search and you will find. The Bible is a good source and so is observing God's created world, your own heart, as well as prayer. Seek the truth. Do not be fooled by promising politicians, witless movie stars, protective bureaucrats, or greedy accumulators.
Virtue can be misunderstood and misused, sometimes purposefully. A sin is a sin. There are no degrees of adultery or stealing. You are either an adulteress or a thief or you are not. A white lie is still a lie. Charity means truly caring for others not handing out money. Thinking evil does not happen with a pure heart. You are abetting sinful policy, acts, and behavior when you vote or support an evil group or political party. It is a sin. The world is filled with sin and Satan is far more powerful than any human being. With Jesus Christ as your savior, Satan is neutralized, but a virtuous life is your choice to live.
These short stories are about normal modern characters, living common lives. Like all of us they are affected by their families, friends, government, and cultural surroundings. For convenience and self-satisfaction, they often rationalize sin as being acceptable. It is not. Like these individuals, in our own oblivion and numbness, we do not recognize sin. Satan revels in our weakness and foolishness. How do these characters deal with their circumstance or situation. How do you deal with your living circumstance and situations? Hopefully these stories enhance an awareness in you to live a better, more joyous, and more virtuous life. Remember, guilt belongs to the guilty while enlightenment is joyful and exciting.
God bless you and I hope you enjoy the stories.
