When his mother arrives with a new, amber-eyed maid in tow, at first, Penn wonders if his mother is trying to liven up his new life at Gruenewald, tempting him with such a lovely lady that merely adds to his irritation at his new post and responsibilities.

Running away from her horrible stepmother, Ana Dutetre winds up at Gruenewald Castle, where everyone, even the flirtatious young duke, is pleased with her efforts.

While he is handsome-there is no denying that, she shouldn't dally. Still, feelings grow between them. Glances that last a moment longer than proper. A secret smile, and proposals she should never consider.

Her heart grows fonder by the day, but she must stick with her plans to remain out of reach of her family. And love is not a part of that plan. Perhaps Ana should slip away, once again, before ensnared by something worse than fear-love.
