Joel Mentmore was born and raised in southern Africa, completing his education in the UK. He has worked variously as a programmer, technical writer and consultant for large investment banks as well as for small technology companies; for a while he also ran a startup product design and manufacturing company. Joel lives in east London with his wife and two children.
