The objective is to provide a social safety net for those who, through whatever reason, can not provide for themselves in one or more of these areas of concern. The ultimate goal is to reduce poverty to the maximum extent possible. These programs are funded via some combination of employer contribution and the government with the government or tax payers footing the majority of the bill. It is hoped that the reader will not only gain a perception of social welfare administration and development, but will also be able to approve and put into operation various practices in the organization as well as institutional set-ups.
