On 25 March 1876, the Football Association of Wales played its inaugural match, against Scotland in Glasgow. On that day 11 intrepid footballers became the first of over 700 players to proudly represent the senior men's team of the world's third oldest football nation. Gareth M Davies is the co-author of Racecourse Robins: A Who's Who of Wrexham AFC 1929-1999. In 1994 he also edited and compiled A Coast of Soccer Memories 1894-1994, the centenary book of the North Wales Coast Football Association. Ian Garland is the author of The History of the Welsh Cup, is joint author of The Canaries Sing Again - a history of Caernarfon Town FC, and, with Prof. Martin Johnes, 'the new craze' Football and Society in north-east Wales c1870-1890.
