Space is Never Empty, 2008 - 2009
My art career spans five decades and builds on my lifelong interest in meditation, philosophy, and feminism as conduits of freedom and peace. Space is Never Empty, 2008 - 2009

My art career spans five decades and builds on my lifelong interest in meditation, philosophy, and feminism as conduits of freedom and peace. This book provides a survey of images of the work I created in the lead-up to, and during, my return to art school, and a more full-time art practice between 2008 and 2009. It is the third of a series of books that documents the progression of my art practice.

These images exemplify my non-representational practice. Across all mediums I used in painting at that time the common threads of textural colour fields, and minimalist composition are constants. Through larger canvases, group installations and my first light boxes my interest in the materiality of space developed. My overarching experience is that space is never empty, both in the artwork, and in our surrounding environment. I aim to manifest works that are supportive of nuance and mindful attentiveness, and that create a moment of counterpoint to the ubiquitous, anxious, complexity of information overload.
