Autorenporträt
J. Theo Kloprogge is currently a Senior Honorary Fellow at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia and an Adjunct Professor in the Chemistry Department of the University of the Philippines Visayas, Miag-ao, Philippines. He is a life member of the Mineralogical Society of America and of the Mineralogical Society of Canada, he is a member of the Clay Minerals Society in the US and the Clay Mineral Society of Japan. He worked previously at the Dutch Institute for Applied Research and at the Queensland University of Technology.

His research interests are primarily in the fields of clay science, in particular in the spectroscopy of clay minerals (Infrared, Raman and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) and applied clay science, and mineral spectroscopy in general.

He has published more than 285 papers, 1 patent, and completed work on 4 books. He was an Associate Editor for the journal Applied Clay Science and iscurrently a Section Editor for the Philippine Journal of Science. He has been awarded The Queensland University of Technology Award for Outstanding Contribution in 2005, The Marion L. & Christie M. Jackson Mid-Career Clay Scientist Award of the Clay Minerals Society in 2006 and the 2016 Best Paper Award in Clay Science by the Clay Science Society of Japan.
