Alexander Naumov graduated in 1986 from the Department of Journalism of the University of Irkutsk. He worked in the local newspaper of Taishet , known as the second (after the Magadan) the prison capital of the Soviet Union during Stalin's repressions. Collected much information on the construction of the prisoners in the thirties of the western section of the BAM. In 1998-2010 he headed the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service - General Administration Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Irkutsk region. In 2004 he published a the book Prisons and Camps of the Irkutsk region which described the life and customs of more than a hundred prisons in Eastern Siberia, from prison convicts to modern penal colonies. In a new book special zone for the former included his conversations with former law enforcement officers who have been convicted on the most notorious criminal cases in recent years.
